It’s thanksgiving. Your problems haven’t gone away. There are many things that you can complain about on this day. If you let yourself this day of thanksgiving can become a day of bickering and grumbling.
Instead, I invite you to meditate on these 30 things that are true, if you are in Jesus, and they are true no matter your frame. Here are 30 reasons for believers to be thankful:
- The tomb is empty. (John 20)
- We have peace with God. (Romans 5:1)
- We are hidden in Christ. (Colossians 3:3)
- We are united to one another. (Ephesians 4:3-6)
- Jesus drank the full cup of God’s wrath. There is not one drop of wrath or condemnation that will ever fall upon our head, because Jesus has paid our debt in full. (Romans 8:1)
- Our righteousness is in heaven. (Philippians 3:9)
- The Lord delights in us. Not because of our performance (good or bad) but because of his steadfast love and the work of Christ.
- He will keep us from falling. (Zephaniah 3:17)
- We are sealed with the Holy Spirit. (Eph. 1:13)
- All things work together for our good; namely, a greater conformity to Christ. (Romans 8:28)
- We have eternal life. Right now. Today. (John 17:3)
- We are dead to sin but alive to God. (Romans 6)
- We are free in Christ. (Galatians 5:1)
- We have been given the mind of Christ. (1 Corinthians 2:16)
- We have received the spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” (Romans 8:15)
- We are blessed in Christ with every spiritual blessing. (Eph.1:3)
- He will withhold no good thing from us. (Psalm 84:11)
- We have been given the greatest gift; namely, God Himself. (Psalm 73)
- He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of Jesus. (Colossians 1:13)
- Jesus is presently at the right hand of God interceding for us. (Hebrews 7:25)
- We are a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- We are loved with an incomprehensible love. (1 John 3:1)
- God is for us. (Romans 8:31)
- We are redeemed from the curse of the law. (Galatians 3:13)
- We have—and will have—His rest. (Hebrews 4)
- Our names are written in heaven. And on God’s hand. (Isaiah 49:16, Luke 10:20)
- We are known by God. (1 Corinthians 8:3, Galatians 4:9)
- We will be resurrected. (1 Corinthians 15)
- Jesus is returning to set all things right. (Revelation 22)
- Jesus wins. (Genesis 1:1-Revelation 22:21)
There are many more reasons to be thankful. These are thirty.
