Day Twenty-Six: That the Work of His Hands Would Be Lasting
“He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff that the wind drives away.” Psalm 1:2-4
We are a people with divided interests with many good things demanding our attention. This intensifies our need for wisdom. As the head of our households, our husbands have a special responsibility to lead our family (and others entrusted to them) to embody what is lasting. That will actualize in many different ways. Let’s pray for our husband’s ministry to us and others today; that it would not be like chaff in the wind or vain chasing of the wind without purpose, but that it would yield sweet fruit for the kingdom and our families.
Lord, we come to you today on behalf of our husbands. We thank you for giving them hearts to follow your leading, and minds to discern what is lasting. Lord, we pray that they would be sensitive to your Spirit and that you would give them the forbearance to build the a lasting house—brick by brick. May you encourage and admonish and bless them in their endeavors, and may even the smallest vision of fruit from their labor bring them joy. We love you, Lord, and we give our husbands to you. Thank you for the privilege of being their helpers on this road. Amen.
