Welcome to a year of reading Richard Sibbes together! The reading plan for the entire year can be accessed here. I encourage you to stick with us, allow yourself time to read, and soak in the riches of this gifted and prolific Puritan preacher. You will be edified and encouraged.
If you have trouble with how Sibbes used words, check out the Lexicons of Early Modern English for definitions from the period.
Week Of Rest
Happy friday, friends. If you’re like me, you’re enjoying post-season baseball. My Nationals play in 4 hours, and Mike’s Royals have taken a 1 game lead on the Angels after defeating the A’s in a play in game. If you don’t like baseball, I’ll pray for you.
We’re taking this week off, so that you can catch up on your reading. If you haven’t read much in a long time, don’t worry. Get a head start on next week’s reading, A Rescue From Death, With A Return Of Praise. It’s on page 135 of Volume 6 of Sibbes’ complete works. You can also find it here.
God bless y’all. Rest. Savor Christ every day, and I hope you are learning and being encouraged by the Heavenly Doctor’s exposition of scripture.
